International Transgender Day of Visibility
International Transgender Day of Visibility is a day dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide. The holiday was recognized by activists worldwide back in 2014. The first time it was celebrated was back on March 31st, 2009. The day was founded by Rachael Crandall as an opportunity to focus on the diversity of transgender lives, as well to raise awareness of the discrimination transgender individuals face.
Many transgender people celebrated online using social media, from Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram, posting personal stories, statistics, selfies and related content to help raise awareness and increase visibility.
Let’s stand up for transgender rights not only today but everyday and help create awareness and allies! You can tweet us at @GFMDating
