I can remember the first time I kissed a girl – I was so nervous. I liked this girl for over five years and didn’t ever want to ruin our friendship. We met when we were 14 and hung out all of the time. She had a boyfriend all through high school so I never thought anything of it. It wasn’t until we were 19 and the two of us were getting ready to go out to a bar – I decided that I was going to come out. She was the first person I told. I had so many emotions running through my mind like fear that she wasn’t ever going to talk to me again. To my surprise she was actually really cool with it because she was bisexual. Who knew? Needless to say we ended up kissing that night. It was kind of nice but kind of awkward at the same time.

The first time I kissed a girl was in grade school. I was nine. It was picture day and I thought this girl looked really pretty, and I felt sad because my mum wouldn’t let me wear a dress like hers. I was wearing OshKosh overalls and pink sneakers. Julia had on a blue sailor dress. I’m pretty sure she was my first crush, because I distinctly remember feeling nervous butterflies in my stomach whenever she was around. I got my picture taken, and she was right after me in line. When she was done, we walked over to the other group of kids and I said, “You look really pretty today, Julia,” and kissed her on the cheek. She pushed me and called me ‘gross’. It was totally innocent, and I’m pretty sure I brushed it off, because I don’t really remember what happened after. When we were seventeen, we dated for a few months, and she would always tell people about the first time I kissed her and she pushed me down and called me ‘gross’. We’re still friends!
