Women Crush Wednesday rolls around again and this time we have somebody who is ridiculously rad (but don’t we always?) have you heard about blogger Karley Sciortino? I hope you have! If not, don’t worry we’ve got you covered. Karley Sciortino is better known as Slutever. That’s right she writes a blog called Slutever that covers healthy sex life, feminism and equality of all. Just currently she’s went full lesbian and is now dating her girlfriend. It wasn’t always that easy for her however.
In her dating articles that she writes for Vogue she outlines the hard part of accepting being a lesbian. It’s a very honest read. She doesn’t go on about the traditional coming out story but just social pressures that were hard for her to wrap her mind around. She talks about how she has always been open to same sex couples but in her mind she couldn’t accept that would be her future. She imagined the typical husband and kids and she wasn’t able to let go of that traditional idea even though she loved her girlfriend. She wasn’t prepared to believe she could live a life with a girl who she shares tampons and feminine experiences with.
She’s also had some up’s and down’s with her girlfriend which she confronts head on within her series of Vogue articles that she writes.
Karley also works with the hip and controversial Vice magazine. There she creates articles on the life of sugar babies (girls with sugar daddies/ rich benefactors). She believes whole heartedly in a healthy attitude and mind set to sex and is crafting essays and blog posts all over on how to achieve safety with BDSM and offering advice to those who need help with their sexual orientation or the act of sexual intercourse itself.
In being so open about sexual health and pleasure she is an activist for feminism and human rights. Changing the gender roles we so readily accept while staying demure and feminine in her own way. She breaks down the taboo and connotations we lace onto the word slut and instead makes it a compliment towards somebody who chooses to be sexually active and aware of their own body and what they like.
You can already see how her mindset is making an impact with the fact that she picked up Vogue- a fashion magazine that is known for its aristocratic way and high class hush. It is known evolving along and making readers become aware of their actions rather than pointing fingers and brushing things under the carpet.
She doesn’t blog as much as she used to but her posts are worth reading. They include advice, cool facts and worthy recommendations. She also makes sure to link any articles she does outside of her own blog so that you’re able to read on that too.
She is a key person in the internet movement of health and mindfulness and definitely somebody to have a crush on!
