Leisha Hailey was born on July 11th, 1971 in Okinawa, Japan to American parents. She grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska and at 17 she came out as gay before moving to New York City to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Her first passion is music and while she was in school she created a band called The Murmurs in 1991 with fellow classmate Heather Grody. The two toured on Lilith Fair and released several albums together. Ten years later they changed the name to Grush. When Hailey signed on with the television show The L Word in 2005, the band split. She is currently playing guitar in the Uh Huh Her band, on tour in UK.Leisha Hailey first started acting when she played a struggling musician on the television show Boy Meets World, a show about the coming of age events and everyday life lessons of Cornelius “Cory” Matthews. Her biggest role was Alice Pieszecki, one of the main characters and a witty and outspoken bisexual journalist on The L Word from 2004 to 2009. She claims she is looking for the same things in a man as in a woman. The show is based around the lives of a group of lesbian, bisexual, straight and transgender people and their friends, family and lovers in Los Angeles, CA. Leisha has always lived her homosexuality openly.She has also acted on television shows such as Ellen, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Grey’s Anatomy, American Dad and Supernatural to name a few. She also dated K.D. Lang for almost five years and ended their relationship in 2011. Later that year her relationship with fellow band mate was known after they were making out on a flight and were asked to leave a flight for arguing with a flight attendant who had asked them to stop kissing.
