Modern Day Mix Tape
Everything is retro or a #throwback these days so why not bring back the effervescent mix tape and show your undying affection to that one special crush. It’s cute, kitschy and nostalgic all you need is a tape recorder, some CD’s and an incredible amount of patience or if you’re feeling lazy you could always make them a youtube playlist, burned CD or iTunes playlist. Below we’ll include some outlines to help you out on your mix tape journey.
Your Songs
Include some of your all time favorite songs so that they are able to get a glimpse into the person that you are. The song that you listen to non-stop, guilty pleasure song, sad song, love song and that one song you don’t want to like but you heard your parents listen to so many times growing up that you know all the lyrics to it. It’s important that they get to know a part of you,
Their Songs
Are they always listening to a certain band or song? Did you guys discuss music before and there is a song that they brought up and you hate it and teased them about it? Add it! Perhaps there is a song that you both agreed is the best. You have to add that on there too! Give them a few songs in between the others that they can laugh at and sing along to because it’s their favorite and then they’ll be more inclined to listen to yours.
Songs that remind you of them
These don’t have to be your favorite or even their favorite perhaps you’ve listened to a song and the girl in the song just suits her so perfectly. Add this song in, maybe add a note that they should listen carefully to the lyrics or maybe it’s a cheesy song that describes exactly how you feel towards them. Overkill!
You don’t want to add too many songs so it feels like a project to them. I always cap it off at 10. Find a lower number so they can listen to and enjoy it in their spare time but it doesn’t feel like a chore.
Cover Art
Whether you’re posting it online or giving it to them in some physical copy you definitely need to add some doodles or a collage as well as a song list. Photoshop them something or make it the old fashioned way with glitter pens, magazine cut outs and sharpies. Let them know that you put some time and effort into it even if it looks silly.
Do something new and cute to catch somebody’s attention don’t get stuck in the same old rut have fun and remember what it was like to find your first love or maybe this is your first love and you want to embrace it. Good luck on your mixed tape the possibilities are endless!
