The one thing I admire about Queen Latifah is that she has this amazing and sexy confidence about her. She stared out as a rapper in the 1980’s and is the only successful rapper to to transition over to a jazz singer. She released her first album at the age of 19, named All Hail The Queen and it went platinum.
Born Dana A. Elaine Owens on March 18th, 1970 she has accomplished a lot over her career. She is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, actress, model, television producer, record producer, comedienne, and recently added talk show host to the list. She embodies beauty and grace, doing it in her own unique way. She was born in Newark, New Jersey, and lived in East Orange, New Jersey. DJ King Gemini sent a demo tape of Queen Latifah’s rap Princess of the Posse off and grabbed Dante Ross’ attention of Tommy Boy Music. He signed her and released her first single, “Wrath of My Madness“.
Queen Latifah made her mark on the rap scene from 1989 to 2002 while rapping about issues of black women. In 2003 she began to shift her focus and started singing more soulful music leaning more towards jazz. She made a comeback to rap in 2003 and started working on her next album. In 2004 she released “The Dana Owens Album”, her fifth studio album.
On September 13, 1999 she aired her first episode of The Queen Latifah Show which ran until August 31, 2001. She wanted to come back to the daytime talk show and on September 16, 2013 the show was renewed for a second season in January 2014. The show ran from September 16, 2013 until March 6, 2015.
Queen Latifah doesn’t like talking about her sexuality in the media. She was recently spotted with her partner on the beach in Italy making out. Such a cute couple!
Much love for this woman!!! I grew up watching her on television shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Living Single and movies like Jungle Fever Waitress, House Party 2, and Juice. And yes I did listen to her hip hop music in the early nineties, such a huge fan! She is so real and down to earth! #fanforlife
