Samira Wiley studied drama at the Juilliard School in New York and graduated in 2010. She is best know for her role as Poussey Washington on Orange Is the New Black. She has also been in The Sitter in 2011, Being Flynn in 2012 and Rob the Mob in 2014.

Her first appearance on television was in a an American police drama called Unforgettable in 2011. She recently acted in an episode for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit called “Perverted Justice”. Wiley has also done some modeling in her career for Maniac Magazine, OUT 100 – 2014 September/October issue.

Samira Wiley is originally from Washington, D.C. and was born as Samira Denise Wiley. She started dating her partner Lauren Morelli back in September 2014. Lauren Morelli realized she was gay while writing for “OITNB.” Five months after Lauren Morelli married her then husband she started working as a writer on the set of Orange Is The New Black. “I realized I was gay in fall 2012, one of my first days on the set,” said Morelli.

Poussey Washington’s Backstory

Possey has served two years of her sentence at Linchfield and has four years remaining. Possey is fun, upbeat and lovable, and sometimes so raw and real with her emotions. You could say she lives with her heart on her sleeve. She trusts and loves unconditionally and  is a good-natured jokester. She was an army brat moving from place to place. While in Hohenfels, Bavaria, Germany she falls in love with a German Commander’s daughter. He walked in on the two of them and later transferred Possey’s father back to the USA because of it.
