Sonya Tayeh is a jazz and contemporary choreographer and dance teacher born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She began dancing at the age of 14 and later started her intensive dance training after she turned 18 and went to Wayne State University. This woman exudes passion and lives her life doing what she loves!

When I was younger all I ever wanted to be was a dancer. As I got older I decided to pursue another career in the arts instead. As an adult stumbling across a show like So You Think You Can Dance I was hooked! I would always record it on my DVR and never miss an episode. Sonya Tayeh was one of my favorite choreographers. I could relate to her, the way she saw things as an artist. She is such a fun, free, creative spirit. Her style is so unique and I love it!

She works on the television series So You Think You Can Dance and along side performers such as Kylie Minogue, Florence and the Machine, Miley Cyrus, Steed Lord and Kerli.  In 2008 she was named as one of the ” Top 25 Choreographers To Watch” list.
